Albert Merino - Nómade. Arte y pensamiento

As a Fine Arts graduate at the University of Barcelona and the Kunsthochshule Berlin Weißensee trained in painting and sculpture, he chooses video during his last years of study in Berlin, where he produces a variety of video installations as well as the documentary ‘Eine Stadt im Umbruch’.

For some years, he makes videographic productions in collaboration with different plastic artists and theater companies like ‘La Fura dels Baus’ or the scenographer Joachim Dam’s travelling project ‘Fluchtkunst’. 

In 2008 he moves to Paris where he starts an intense videographic production using different registers from signature pieces with a more intimate touch, to video dance and pseudo-documentary. 

His work has received many awards, among them the ‘Lumen-Ex’, the ‘Bcn Visual Sound’, the ‘Premio Videoart festival Close-up Vallarta’ and the ‘Madatac/Transfera’.

His works have been projected in institutions such as the Centre Arts Santa Mónica (Barcelona), the MNCARS (Madrid), the MEIAC (Badajoz) or the Jyväskylä Art Museum (Jyväskylä, Finlandia). He has participated in different International Festivals, the most important among them being the ‘Los Angeles Art Fair’, ‘The Latino Videoart Festival of New York’, the ‘Òptica Festival Paris’, the ‘Collogne off nomade’s festival’, the ‘Flashfoward Milan’, the ‘Recortados’ in La Casa Encendida in Madrid, the ‘Oslo Screen Festival’ and the ‘Biennal de Cerveira’ (Portugal).

He currently lives and works in Barcelona.
